My Vision and Purpose for Running
I’ve worked hard to be an American, and am so grateful that I’ve been able to give my life to serving the community. Milpitas is no longer a small town; we have the potential to become a great city. We need strong leadership to realize that potential. That’s why I am running for the Mayorship.
Exemplary Leadership
I have worked to create multiple companies with investors and contributors from all over the world. I serve in a leadership position in multiple charitable and educational organizations. I spent 6 years as a Milpitas School Board Trustee. I currently serve as a City Council Member in Milpitas. I have extensive experience in leadership in numerous service organizations.
I have the vision to bring Milpitas to the next level and restore the trust in the Council and our interaction with the County and other cities. I cast the lone vote opposing the renaming of the Milpitas Library because the other 3 Council Members and the Mayor refused to allow community input into the decision.
As an elected official, I was shocked when the Mayor and Vice-Mayor continually refused to explain why our City Manager’s contract was not renewed. All requests for explanations were ignored and I knew this was wrong so I contacted the District Attorney’s office. They validated my right to participate. This lack of transparency by the Mayor and Vice-Mayor and refusal to share information, not only with me, but with the community, about one of the most important jobs in our city reminded me of authoritarian regimes. This is not the America that I cherish. Again, I was the lone vote to stop the Council from approving an unlimited budget for this lawsuit. We could have settled for around $150,000 but have now spent over $300,000 and there is no limit to what we might spend. One of my priorities is to restore transparency and confidence in our local government, in order to allow a true democracy that represents the needs and voices of the people to flourish.
Proven Team Builder
Upon learning of the billions of dollars available to cities, I recognized the need for better collaboration at all levels of government and private enterprise.
I have a reputation of being able to work with others, at any level, to identify and address solutions in education, homelessness, business and charitable organizations.
I see the opportunity to collaborate with Federal, State and the County to provide needed support for our city operations. We just received a $2.9 Million dollar grant to fix our streets and infrastructure after I visited Washington D.C. and brought the information back to city staff.
Vast Experience
I have worked in government, private enterprise, charitable organizations as a Board Member, CEO, CFO, and various management positions. I was President of the Milpitas School Board, a Trustee at Lincoln Law School, an Advisor of Rotary Vietnam Project to combat Human Trafficking, and my brother and I organized a worldwide project that resulted in 20,000 wheelchairs being donated to those in need and was an involved parent in many organizations while my 3 children attended Milpitas schools. What this has taught me is not only to be a better leader but also how to be an effective listener in order to help our community achieve common goals. As the campaign continues I will update my priorities for the City. Each day that I am out knocking on doors and talking to voters I learn more about what is important to the community. While I still believe that my priorities address our major needs, I always want to listen.
My current priorities are:
- Safety for Businesses and Residents
- Secure Federal Funding for City Projects
- Providing Infrastructure for Parks and their Neighbors
- Restoring Transparency and Confidence in Local Government
- Supporting Consistent Maintenance in Our Parks
Housing is always a priority but is not something that can be achieved quickly. The city will always focus upon Affordable and Workforce housing.
I would be honored if you would consider voting for me for Mayor.
